I demonstrated the card above. I used Designer Series Paper (DSP) and some bling!

The birthday card, above, was a make-n-take. I like the way the cupcakes sparkle with a little Dazzling Details!

The card (above) was also a make-n-take. The framelits and edgelits found in the Occasions Mini were used to make the design on the bottom, and also to cut out the stamped image. All of the stamps used on this card are available during Sale-A-Bration!

It was a fun afternoon of stamping with a great group of ladies!

Here's the Valentine's Day card I'll be sending out to my family soon. It's about 90% CASED. I changed a few things, but loved the original idea so much I thought I'd just leave (almost) it as-is!

Stamp Club January 2012

These are the cards I demoed and we made at the January Stamp Club. The card, above is Emboss Resist. Stamp an image with VersaMark and emboss with clear embossing powder. Then run an inked-up brayer over it, and then rub a paper towel over it. That will rub off the ink from the embossed part. You can also try embossing in other colors (lighter work best), sponging on the ink, etc. Wherever you embossed something, the ink will resist it!

The smaller card, above, has a Maze Game from the Occasions Mini. Those maze games can be a little addicting!

We stamped the word "Love" and then cut it out with the Framelits Label Collection. I love the way you can see through the die to get perfect placement. The ribbon is also from the Occasions Mini. The hearts along the bottom are from the SAB (Sale-A-Bration) catalog.

This is a Double Z-Fold card. We put a belly band around it so it would stay closed better. These cards are quick and easy, but with a little DSP (Designer Series Paper) it looks like you spent a ton of time on it. The picture below shows it half open with the belly band on the side.

January Stamping Fun Night 2012

The first card I will demo at Stamping Fun Night uses the fun new Maze Game in the Occasions Mini. This game is still as addictive as when you were a kid! I wrote "love u!" with clear mount stamps on a long block. It was a great way to stamp all the letters at one time!

This quick and easy card, above, will be a make-n-take. This card uses products from the Sale-A-Bration Mini, but just about any Designer Series Paper (DSP) and stamp set will work!

The other make-n-take is made with a Framelits from the Occasions Mini. These are fun to use- and you can see where you are cutting when you run it through the Big Shot!

Stamp Club November 2011

These are the cards we did at the November Stamp Club. The snowman, above, has a cute little bell on the end of his hat. You can find these in the Holiday Mini!

The card, above, uses the ribbon and brads in the new In Colors. I love the ruffled edges!

This quick and easy card, above, was a make-n-take. We used the Simply Scored to make the lines. The only ink color used was Basic Black!

This card was inspired by a card from demo friend Jean. The Silver Glimmer Paper is punched out with a circle punch and layered behind. I love the sparkle (and the simplicity!) of this card!

Crayon Rubbed Embossing

Here is a card I made using Crayon Rubbed Embossing. Here's how to do the technique:
You can use the Embossing Folders without a Big Shot! Open the Embossing Folder and place a piece of white card stock on the side that the bumps stick up. Rub a white crayon (wax based like Crayola) on the card stock. Hold the card stock still and rub it all over a few times. Use good pressure and try to make sure the card stock does not move. Remove from the Embossing Folder. Get a brayer inked up (I used Basic Gray) and run across the card stock until it is completely covered. Then rub off the excess ink with a paper towel. The image on the Embossing Folder (that you rubbed over) will “pop” out because the crayon on that part of the paper resists the ink. You might also want to try another color of card stock or crayon, or a sponge instead of a brayer.

Stamp Club September 2011

One of the make-n-takes we did was made with a notecard from the SU catalog. Seal the envelope, cut off about an inch from the short side, and punch a half-circle with the 2 1/2" circle punch. Stamp, then wrap ribbon around the outside. The card slides in and out. The finished card is below. The colors used are Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink, along with Old Olive and Basic Black.

The thank you card (below) was made by folding a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of Basic Gray card stock at 2 1/8" on both ends. The card opens in the middle. To do the baby wipe technique, fold a baby wipe in half. Then put drops of reinker on the folded end. Use a few colors if you want. Rub it across a piece of glossy white card stock. Rub it over the card stock a few times until you get the look you want. You can do straight lines, swirls, etc. Let it dry for a few minutes, and then stamp an image on top with Staz On ink. It's a little messy, but worth a few ink stains on your hands! The reinker colors I used are Riding Hood Red and Calypso Coral.

The easel card, below, is fun to make (and receive!) and fairly easy once you get the folding down. I found great directions at www.splitcoaststampers.com in the Resources (search for easel card). The Pool Party card stock is scored at 4 1/4" and 6 3/8" Sorry the picture is so small. Not sure what I did wrong with that but I'm too pooped to try to fix it right now. And thanks, Stacey, for saving the day with some extra card stock so we could actually finish the card! :)

Christmas Stamp-A-Stack

You will make one "Welcome Christmas" card (above). Don't let the little bow scare you away! I will have some pre-made if you don't want to make your own.

You will make 3 Snowman Santa cards (above). The Top Note die is the perfect shape for this guy! The snowflake sparkles a little more with some Dazzling Details on the tips!

You will make 3 of the ornament cards (above). You can choose the Very Vanilla background or the Not Quite Navy background. The sparkle behind the ornaments is silver glimmer paper!

The grid background on the card above is easy to make with the new Simply Scored! You'll make 3 of these at the Stamp-A-Stack.

Make sure you send in your registration and payment! The early-bird discount ends on September 30th!

Stamping Fun Night, September 2011

Well, I guess it's just about time to say good-bye to summer and hello to fall. To help welcome in the season, we'll make this fall colored card. The glimmer brads add just a little sparkle!

We'll be using the new long, skinny cellophane bags that are available in the Holiday Mini (page 11) to make this autumn treat. Yes, your bag will be filled with M&Ms, and yes there will be extra M&Ms to munch on that night. Unless, of course, Todd and I eat them all before you get there!

This quick and easy card is also versatile! Just change the color and/or words for a whole new look.

August Stamping Fun Night

New Catalog Workshop

These are the cards we'll be doing at the New Catalog Workshop! The sailboat card, above, uses a technique I recently learned called Faux Silk Screen. I will demonstrate this technique at the workshop.

The star card, above, uses the new Pennant Parade stamp set and Petite Pennants Builder punch. There are so many fun things to do with this stamp set and punch! See what else I came up with (or CASEed) when you come to the workshop!

The Congratulations card, above, will be a make-n-take. We will use the new Lace Ribbon Border punch. I'll even show you a quick and easy way to make the punched part be different colors on the top and bottom!

The hello card, above, is a Funky Fold card. It will be a make-n-take. When you come to the workshop you will get a pattern to easily recreate this card at home. I also pre-cut, scored, and folded your card stock so you can get right to stamping! The background behind the bird is made with the new Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate and Always Artichoke Craft ink, run through the Big Shot. This card will fit in a medium SU envelope (also known as invitation size).

Father's Day card pack

Here's another card for the card pack I'm giving my dad for Father's Day! I'm having fun with this set! (Sail Away from the Summer Mini).

The cs is not quite navy, soft suede, cherry cobbler, and whisper white. I colored the sailboat with chalks and Watercolor Wonder Crayon (sky).

I used the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch to make the border on these cards.

After I stamped the fruit images, I ran the cs through the crimper both ways. The "hello" is stamped on the vellum and then layered on the ribbon.

Stamping Fun Night June 2011

These are the projects we will be making at Stamping Fun Night on Monday, June 6th. The card, above, uses one of the new triple-punches from the Summer Mini. I'll show you some other ideas using this punch, too!

The sailboat on the card, above, is from the Summer Mini. To do this technique, stamp the image on a window sheet with StazOn. Then color on the back with a mix of Crystal Effects and a few drops from an ink refill. Put some tissue paper on the back, let dry, cut off the extra tissue paper, and attach to your card.

The last project we will make is this flower pot. It opens at the top! This is a mini version. I'll also show a larger version, and one that pulls up.

Father's Day card pack

This is one of the cards I am making for a card pack for my dad for Father's Day. I made three of them for him. It is a fancy fold card. I'm sure I'll be doing this at a workshop soon, but it will probably be the New Catalog Workshop in July. I colored the lighthouse (retired set) with Stampin' Pastels and a blender pen. The ship's wheel idea (as well as the fancy fold!) I CASEed from someone else.

These are the cards we'll be making at Stamping Fun Night on May 12th. This lattice card isn't hard at all and I love the way this technique looks! You can make the card with the butterflies, or the flowers, or both!

This card is made with the Medallion stamp and is heat embossed with two colors of embossing powder. It is a great way to add even more "Wow!" to a heat embossed image!

Stamping Fun Night April 2011

These are the cards we made at Stamping Fun Night. The do the ribbon on the card, above, put sticky strip down the side, and then add seam binding. Fold the seam binding back and forth.

To make this quick and easy card, above, stamp the butterfly continually without reinking. It's a great way to show motion!

This 3 x 3 card just makes you want to run and get some chocolate. Doesn't it?! :)

This design was made with 2 builder wheels. The flowers were stamped separately. The butterflies stick out. Just add one mini glue dot to the center!

School Bear's Journal

I finished the cover for the journal I send home with the first graders when they take School Bear home with them. They write about all of their adventures with School Bear over the weekend and share what they wrote on Monday. It's for next school year, but I found that I am much more motivated to work on stuff like this when it's 35 degrees out (and not 85!) and I don't have a back-to-school to-do list a mile long!

February 2011 Stamping Fun Night

Stamping Fun Night was....fun! On the St. Patrick's Day card (above) we attached glitter 3 ways. We used Sticky Strip, Heat & Stick powder, and a 2-way glue pen. If you want less sparkle, you can also make the card, below. Same look, less bling!

The card (below) uses the So Happy for You set that you can get FREE with a $50+ order during Sale-A-Bration. The basket was made with a square scallop punch with 3 of the sides cut off.

Our final card was a 5 x 5 card. We use the lattice die. Then we colored the flower image with blender pens and the ink in the top of the ink pad. The background is made by rubbing the ink pad directly on the card stock (direct-to-paper).

Stamp Club- January 2011

Here are the cards that were made at the January Stamp Club! The card above just uses Basic Gray and Whisper White card stock. The bird is hand-drawn with a marker. The glitter stays on with a little help from a 2-way glue pen. It's pretty, but I still can't wait until spring!

The card above uses the red glimmer paper from the Occasions Mini. It is easy to use and a fun way to add some bling to your project! It's not just for Valentine's Day!!

The Happy Birthday card uses the DSP that is a Level 1 hostess choice. The In-Colors are so fun to combine with the Core Colors! I taped the "presents" together, added the ribbon, and then attached them with stampin' dimensionals. It's a quick and easy card!

This last card is made with the Pendant Notes. The envelopes are included, and the design is already cut out for you. These won't go through the mail as-is, but they are great for a present-topper, or just to let someone know you are thinking of them!

Christmas tags

This is a tag I will use for Christmas gifts. The Brushed Silver card stock is 2 1/2" x 2 3/4". I stamped the snowflake (page 20 IB&C) in silver (now retired, boohoo) and then punched out with the snowflake punch (page 200 IB&C). I got the silver snowflake in the middle from a friend. She was kind enough to give me a bunch of them (Thanks, Kiy!). I'll tie some silver string to attach the tag.

It's not too early to start stamping Christmas things. It's only 6 weeks away!! Do a little every week and you will have lots of fun hand-stamped things for the holidays!

Mountain Bay Stamp Club-November 2010

November 2010 Stamp Club

These are the cards we made at the November Stamp Club. The card above uses the Glimmer Brads from the Holiday Mini. The stripes of card stock are 3/4" x 5". Change the colors and the words and this basic design can be used for just about anything!

I pressed the ink pad cover together, opened it, and picked up the ink on the inside of the cover with an AquaPainter. First I colored the entire flower a lighter color. Then I went over a few spots to make some flowers darker to give it some dimension.

This card is so quick, easy, and versatile! Just change the color in the wheel and you have a whole new look! There are just 2 card stock layers- Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White!

The Tinsel Trim (silver) was used as a ribbon to add a little shine to this card. A 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter added sparkle to the bag. The background on the Melon Mambo is direct-to-paper (DTP). Just rub the ink pad against the card stock for a quick and easy background.

If you came to the Christmas Stamp-A-Stack, you made the Christmas card, above. I wanted some fall cards, so I added a little More Mustard card stock and changed the stamp set to Harvest Home. I used markers to color the leaves rather than pastels. I tried the card with one set of leaves and then 2 sets of leaves. Other than that, everything's the same! I love it when one card inspires me to make other cards, with a small twist!

These are the cards from the Stamp Club. It was a fun night. I think we all needed some laughs and stamping time after our crazy days! The card above uses the masking technique. I made a mask of the Top Notes die and used the border punch to make the other mask. I placed those on Whisper White card stock, then used a brayer to add the Blushing Bride ink. The hearts were also stamped using the masking technique. When you do this technique, you always want to think about which image you want in the front and stamp that image first.

To make this watercolor flower card, first ink up the stamp with markers and stamp on card stock. I used watercolor paper. Confetti White also works well because it also absorbs more of the water and spreads it around better. But this technique can also be used on any other card stock. I used an Aqua Painter on the flower image (after it was stamped) to get the watercolor look.

To make this spider web, run Basic Black card stock through the Big Shot with the Spider Web embossing folder in the Holiday Mini. Use a sponge dauber and platinum shimmer paint and rub in a circular motion. Spooky, huh?!

This card is made using the stained glass technique. Emboss an image on Vellum card stock. It's thicker than regular vellum and will hold up better when you emboss. Flip the vellum over and use markers to color in the back. Flip it so the embossed part is out and attach to your card.

This card also uses the stained glass technique. The DSP (Designer Series Paper) is from the Holiday Mini and is called Deck the Halls.

The Christmas Stamp-A-Stack is coming up in October! See below for more information. You will make one of the embossed tree card (above). Embossing is so much fun, and I love the way it makes this tree look!

You will make 3 of the bird cards. The birds are a builder wheel, colored in with Stampin' Pastels (chalks).

You will make 3 of the snowflake cards. The center of the snowflakes is a jewel from Basic Rhinestones. They are so easy to use because they are self-adhesive. I love the bling they add to this card!

You will make 3 of the Merry Christmas card. This quick and easy card would be great of you are making a lot of cards, or don't have a lot of time to make Christmas cards. The Brushed Gold card stock gives it just enough sparkle.

Card Pack for my Dad

I made a "get-well" pack of cards for my dad. He's going through chemo right now and wants to write some letters to people to thank them for things they've done for him. He needs his own stash so he stops stealing from my mom's stash. LOL! I can't wait to give them to him! The ideas were CASEed from various sources- mostly splitcoaststampers. He'll get 4 of each design.

Another Cottage Window Frame!

I really like the way my first cottage window frame turned out, so I decided to make one for the guest room, too! The window frame is from my grandparents' old cottage. This time I used some extra material I had (from an extra curtain) that matched the bedspread. I also stamped using similar colors to the bedspread. I used the Medallion stamp, and some leaf stamps that are retired. I did lots of sponging with Mellow Moss, which is retired also.

It was a cloudy day, so I decided to spend some time in my stamping room. We went camping at North Trout Lake Campground in the Northern Highland State Forest in July. It was fun to scrapbook the memories!

New Catalog Workshop pictures

The Melon Mambo ice cream is made by kissing the ice cream (inked up with Melon Mambo) to the line stamp, and then stamping on Whisper White card stock. I embossed it with clear embossing powder to make it shiny. Looks yummy, huh?!

The folded part in the middle can be any size square. This one is 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". I love that new Cajun Craze card stock!

Early Espresso is yummy, even to a non-coffee drinker like me! To make the sparkle, I mixed shimmer paint with a spritzer bottle of hand-sanitizer. You can also use rubbing alcohol and shimmer paint in a spritzer bottle, but it's a little bit stinkier. The base of the card is made with Crumb Cake card stock, which used to be called Kraft.

Stamp the flowers with White Craft Ink, then the outlines with black (I used Staz-On Jet Black.). Add a little texture with the Color Spritzer Tool and a marker. The red is the new Cherry Cobbler card stock.

Quick and Easy Cards!

My inspiration for this card came from here. I didn't have the DSP, so I just used pieces of card stock. I used the Birds and Blooms dies and the Big Shot to make the flowers. I love the way it looks, and it was quick and easy!

I LOVE this new hostess set (Because I Care). My inspiration for this card came from here. To make the watercolor look of the flower, I inked up the stamp with Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive markers and stamped on Watercolor Paper. Then I used my AquaPainter to mix around the colors a little. To make the corners on the bottom, I stuck the Elegant Eggplant card stock into the side of the round tab punch. I used the Color Spritzer Tool and my Old Olive marker to add a little something to the Old Olive card. It was a quick and easy card!

A cottage window frame!

I had been looking around for something to hang above the bed, but I just couldn't find what I wanted. Then my parents gave me some old window frames from my grandparent's cottage and the wheels started turning! I stamped the images using the colors in the bedspread. I love knowing that it has some history (the old cottage frames), and a little bit of "me" in it, too!

Gift Tin

This is a gift tin I made for the people that recently placed an order with me. It had a "tax time" special and said I would give a gift with each order. I had enough of these tins around and thought I would show those people how much I appreciated their order! I used Brilliant Blue, Tempting Turquoise, and Shimmery White. The flower is done with the rock-n-roll technique. After I decorated the top, I had to decide what to put inside. Here's what I did:

There are 3 mini notecards and 2 Ghirardelli chocolates with a "Thank you" stamped on top. It was fun to make! I hope they enjoy it as much as I liked making it!

I was asked by our "Sunshine" committee at school to make thank-yous for the support staff for a luncheon they are putting on for them next week. I used a swap I had from Convention 2009 to come up with the idea, and added the flower and slider part. The flower is made with the Birds and Blossoms Large Flower and Flower Pieces embosslit and a brad. Just crunch everything up to make the flower! I embossed the Apricot Appeal card stock with the Finial Press folder.

The poem slides out and there is a cute poem they found attached to the packet of Kool Aid! I hope they like it!

Regionals 2010

I just got back from the Regionals in Milwaukee. It was great! Regionals is a Stampin' Up! event for Stampin' Up demonstrators. I learned a TON of great ideas!!

On this card I used the "drip" technique on the flower. Ink up a solid image, then drip a few drops of water on it and stamp. It will give you a different look each time!

It's hard to see the sparkle in the background, but I did that with some shimmer paint I mixed together with hand sanitizer in a spritz bottle. It sprays on easily, dries fairly quickly, and adds some extra sparkle to your projects. Plus, it's easy to clean up!

I'll be trying some of the other ideas I learned at Regionals soon, and I'll post what I come up with!

Mother's Day card

It's a little early for Mother's Day, but the rain clouds showed up today and I decided to use some pretty flowers to brighten up my day! I used the Close as a Memory stamp set for the flowers and Wonderful Words (retired) for the word on the bottom. The card stock is Green Galore, Gable Green, Soft Suede, and Confetti White. I used Gable Green and Pixie Pink markers to color directly on the stamp. The Color Spritzer Tool was used for the dots. I added some brads, punched a little and I was done! Now I have to decide if I'm going to do a little scrapbooking, or make a few birthday cards!

Valentine card

I loved this Valentine card that show4u2c made on splitcoaststampers.com made so much that I CASEed it 100%! It was quick and easy and fun to make! I used the Wandering Words set from the Holiday mini and the new heart punch from the Occasions mini. The mailbox/words are embossed. I made a template on scrap paper for the hearts. Then I was sure to punch the hearts just where I wanted them! The white border with the hearts is raised up with dimensionals.

Mountain Bay Stamping Club-October

These are the things we made at the Mountain Bay Stamping Club after school tonight. It was great to see the creative ideas the 4th and 5th graders in the club came up with. Their projects looked great!

To make the pumpkins above, we stamped a pumpkin and then a face (or some words), and then punched it out with a tag punch. Then we layered it on a larger tag that was plain, and added a stem with ribbon.

This card is embossed. That was really fun to do! It was a first for most of the stampers in the club.

To make the moon on this candy bag topper, we punched out a circle, and then punched out a portion of that circle.

Mountain Bay Stamping Club

The 4th and 5th graders in the Stamping Club at Mountain Bay School met on Monday, September 28th. We learned basic techniques for stamping, and then got to work making some projects! The card above is made using the "thumping" technique. Ink up a stamp with a lighter color, then use a marker and bounce (or thump) the tip up and down on the inked-up stamp. Use another marker to add more color if you wish. Then stamp on your card stock. It's a quick and easy way to add color to an image! I loved seeing the different ways the girls put this card together!

Another card we made was this red flower card. This quick and simple card can be changed so easily just by using a different color, like the yellow one below!

The final project we did was a "sour cream" container. This box is easy to make! After stamping a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of card stock, roll it into a cylinder shape (like a toilet paper tube). Then squeeze the edges shut and adhere. We used velcro so it was easy to open and close the box.

Harvest Home stamp set

If you buy a set like Harvest Home that is a line stamp, you don't always have to color it in! I hope you enjoy these ideas! And thanks to the people that inspired me to make these cards by sharing their ideas!

The top card is embossed with gold embossing powder. The card stock is Soft Suede and Brushed Gold.

To make this card, cut 3 pieces of card stock (different colors) the same size as the wood block of your stamp. Then stamp the image on each piece. Tear the top layer, then adhere the next layer underneath. Tear that layer and adhere the bottom layer. Then mount it on a slightly larger piece of card stock (in this case black).

August Stamp Club

The new butterfly punch is great to use with the butterfly from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set!

We used Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color in the pumpkin image.

The Finial Press embossing folder was used to make the background of this card. I love the embossing folders! They are easy to use and the results are so "wow!"

Stamped earrings!

At the Stampin' Up! Convention earlier in August, co-founder Shelli showed how to make earrings with metal edge tags. She inspired me to make these!

This pair of post earrings is made with the Circle Circus stamp set. I embossed one of the circles with gold emboss powder on brushed gold card stock. Then I punched the circles out with the 3/4" circle punch and used mini glue dots to attach them to earring posts.

These earrings were made with metal edge tags and earring dangles. I inked up the stamp I got at the Stampin' Up! convention that was attached to the Stampin' Up! Build-a-Bear (He's a cutie!). I used markers (Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, and Rich Razzleberry) and stamped right on the tags.

I hope these inspire you to make your own hand-stamped earrings!

Convention Swaps 2009

I got together with some friends today to do some stamping. What a great way to spend a cool, rainy day! I worked on swaps for Convention when I wasn't visiting or eating. The one above is made with a Spanish stamp. It is a Hostess set which is also available in English. I am going to a class at Convention about using the Spanish Supplement and we are doing a swap with sets from the Spanish Supplement. I used the texture jumbo wheel on the Summer Sun card stock and Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color the flowers.

What I used:
stamp sets-Hermoso amanecer (Country Morning), Texture jumbo wheel
card stock-Elegant Eggplant, Summer Sun, Always Artichoke, Confetti Cream
ink-StazOn jet black, So Saffron jumo cartridge (made with empty cartridge and reinker)
accessories-ticket corner punch, dimensionals, AquaPainter, WWC (going gray, charcoal always artichoke, elegant eggplant, summer sun)

For this card I used the stamp set Flores Suaves set from the Spanish Supplement. I have no idea what the words say :) but I love the way they look as a background. I ran the Mellow Moss card stock through the Big Shot with the new Finial Press embossing folder. I'm going to make more of these cards just because it's so fun to use the embossing folder! The edges of my ribbon aren't going to fray...I used a lighter on the edges. You just have to be careful that you don't do it too long because the ribbon will melt!

Bloggers Challenge-July 17, 2009

The Bloggers Challenge this week was to use stitching in some way. I actually had this card finished, but the Challenge inspired me to add some faux stitching on the side. To do faux stitching, use your paper piercer and pierce holes however you want your stitch line to go. Then run a white gel pen over the lines.

This week's Bloggers Challenge was to CASE another Bloggers Challenge member. I chose Jamie (Garden of Greetings) because I love her cards and she is so sweet! :)

This card is all about Real Red. The ink and ribbon are both Real Red, and so is most of the card stock!

Stamp Club, July 2009

The first card made at the July Stamp Club is a quilt card. It's easy to make! Cut card stock (I usually use a piece of scrap white) whatever size you want the quilt part to be. Mark lines in the center both ways (so it makes a plus sign). Then stamp your center image (in this case a "j") and attach to the middle of the card stock that has lines. Use the lines you drew to get the image exactly in the center. Then take strips of DSP and add one strip at a time until you're made a square around the image. Repeat with a different color over and over until the entire piece of card stock is covered. Snip off the ends that are sticking out, and attach to your card base.

The glitter for the "j" was added with Heat and Stick powder.

This next card uses the Circle Circus stamp set as a background for both the star and large white circle. It is made with Rich Razzleberry and Going Gray. I love the way the brads add extra stars to the card!

This make-n-take uses the new InColor Dusty Durango. I love the coordinating polka dot ribbon!! To get the glitter on the candles, I used the 2-Way glue pen and added Dazzling Diamonds glitter. It is the easiest way to add glitter, and it dries very fast! And you've gotta love that new Modern Label Punch!!

This make-n-take has two parts. The card is a 3 x 3 card. The gift box is the perfect size to store the smaller 3 x 3 gift cards!

New Catalog Workshop 2009

These are the cards that were done at the New Catalog Workshop. The first 2 cards were demonstrated. The last 2 cards were the make-n-takes.

For the Summer card, the mosquitoes were colored in using Stampin' Pastels. The "S" in summer was stamped on DSP (Designer Series Paper) and mounted on chipboard.

This card uses the Big Shot and the NEW InColor markers! The holes were punched with the Mat Pack and Paper Piercing Tool (which is now available separately!!).

This make-n-take is made by inking up a Texturz plate with ink (use a brayer) and then running the card stock through the Big Shot with the Texturz plate. This is a neat technique with colored card stock, too! Don't you love that new punch, too?!

The Circle Circus set is so fun to stamp with! This card is quick and easy, and has a lot of color. The ribbon is the new polka dot InColor ribbon.

Bloggers Challenge - Sketch Challenge

This week's Bloggers Challenge was a sketch challenge. I used the sketch on the top to make this birthday card. It's actually a blend of old and new. Most of the colors are InColors that are retiring, but all of the stamp sets are new. It's that time of year when I am sad to see the retiring stamp sets and accessories go, but super excited about the new stuff coming out!

Here's what I used:

stamp sets: Circle Circus, Teeny Tiny Wishes, On a Pedestal

card stock: Pacific Point, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun, Whisper White

ink: Riding Hood Red, Pacific Point, Summer Sun, marker-Summer Sun, ink refill-Tangerine Tango, ink refill- Riding Hood Red

accessories: blender pens, stamping sponge, 1" circle punch, stampin' dimensionals, Pacific Point striped ribbon

To make sure the ribbon didn't fray, I used a lighter and put it close to the edge of the ribbon. This "melted" it a little and stops the ribbon from fraying.

If you wanted markers for the 08-09 InColors, you had to get a blender pen and reinkers. Not bad to do, but an extra step. The 09-10 InColors will be available as markers!!! Yeah! You'll be able to order the set of 6 for $17.95.

Marker Club cards

These are the cards we made at the Marker Club! For the elephant card, stamp with StazOn black ink on Glossy White card stock. Then color with markers.

On the Baja Breeze/Mellow Moss card stock, stamp the flowers with Craft White ink. Let it dry (or heat set) and then color with markers. After, cover the entire card with vellum.

To color the flowers from the Pretties Kit, first get them wet. I used an AquaPainter. Then color with a marker (bashful blue). After it dries, go over parts of the flower so you have different shades.

Bloggers Challenge-Summer

This week's Bloggers Challenge is Summer. This card uses the baby wipe technique. Take a baby wipe and drop drops of reinker on it. I used Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, and Baja Breeze. Then run the baby wipe over a piece of card stock. I found that Confetti White worked well. It will be a unique design each time! You can also use the baby wipe as an ink pad for your stamp. Solid stamps work best.

Bloggers Challenge- Patriotic

The Bloggers Challenge for this week is Patriotic. It really got me thinking about summer and warm days! Since I completely forgot to do last week's challenge, I decided to combine them. Last week was CASE yourself. So I took a card I had in my stash (which I actually made at a demo shoebox swap a while ago) and changed the bottom color and the stamp set. The top card is for this week's challenge, and the card below is the card I already had.

Here's what I used on the 1st card:

Retirement gift tag

I made this tag for the teachers in my school district that are retiring this year. They will be tied to a little bag with chocolate coins in it. I printed the words on Very Vanilla card stock and then ran them through the Big Shot with the Top Note die. It took a little doing to make sure the words were centered, but once I figured it out it went pretty fast. The pencil is from the retired set Elementary Days. I used a Cameo Coral, Going Grey, More Mustard, and Basic Black marker to color the pencil stamp. I sponged around the outside with More Mustard. I hope they enjoy them and have a great retirement!

May Marker Club

These are the cards we made at the May Marker Club. This Club is a great way to get the entire set of markers while spreading out the payments over 4 months. If you are interested in joining a Marker Club (or Stamp Club, or ribbon club, etc), just let me know! The card above was made by coloring directly on the stamp with markers, and then taking a fine-mist spray of water and misting it on the stamp. When you stamp the image, it gives it a nice watercolor look. Confetti White card stock is great for this technique because it soaks up just enough water so you don't have to wait so long for it to dry. There is some vellum paper in the background, also.

For the card below we did the thumping technique. It actually works better when you ink up the stamp with a lighter color ink, but I chose Ruby Red. Definitely not a light color! But the technique still works and it's fun to play around and break the stamping rules sometimes! It's easy to do. Just ink up a solid stamp. Then take a marker in your hand and hold it loosely in your hand like you would a chopstick. Then thump it on the stamp a few times. You can even do this with multiple colors! I always scribble with my marker a little after I do this in case there is a little ink from the stamp on the marker.

Doesn't it look like confetti on this card?! To make this background, run a marker (or 2 or 3) all over a brayer. I did squiggly lines all over, but you could also try shapes. Then roll it over your card stock. To clean the brayer, simply run it under water and dry with a paper towel. The cupcake stamp was also colored using markers. We added a little glitter to the candle to give it a little extra shine!

May Stamp Club

These cards were made when the Stamp Club met on May 11th. This first card uses those cool window sheets in the Occasions Mini. It was quick and easy, and the window sheets are so fun to work with! Someone asked about embossing on window sheets. I was 99% sure it would be ok. Well, I tried it tonight and I didn't have any problems with the window sheet melting or warping. Yeah! I even kept the heat on a little longer than needed and still had no problems.
This next card uses Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a blender pen to color in the flowers. The belnder pens give you just a little more control of the amount of moisture. So, if you have trouble with colors bleeding when you use an AquaPainter on more detailed images, you may want to try this. The polka dot background was made by inking up a brayer, rolling it on a texturz plate, and then running it through the Big Shot with the card stock. The texturz plates are cool by themselves, but with a little ink on them they really pop!

This card was a make-n-take. We used the Color Spritzer Tool and a Chocolate Chip marker on the scallop circle. The Pacific Point fringe was made by trimming off the edge of the Pacific Point ribbon and pulling the loose edges. Is that cool or what?! I learned that trick at the SU Regionals in Minneapolis (one of the many reasons I love being a SU demonstrator!).

But don't throw that ribbon away once you pull out the fringe! This 3 x 3 gift card uses what's left of the ribbon once you pull out the strings for the fringe. It's a quick and easy way to get coordinated fringe!

For the last make-n-take the choice was either a 3 x 6 card or 6 x 6 scrapbook page. Both projects use the sneak-peek Jumble Alphabet stamp set. This week’s Blogger’s Challenge is all about Mother’s Day! I just got the Close as a Memory set and wanted to use it right away. I think those flowers are so pretty! I needed some inspiration, so I went to splitcoaststampers.com. I found a great card by atsamom and was on my way!

I sent my mom and Todd’s (my hubby’s) mom this card along with a pack of cards. My mom stamps, but still loves to get the cards to send and for inspiration!

NEW Birthday stamp set!

We made this 3" x 3" birthday gift card at my downline meeting tonight. I was expecting people at 6:30. I didn't have this card ready (or even have an idea for it!) at 6:00 but Todd said, "You can think of an idea with that set!" and I went down in my stamping room and got it together in 10 minutes! Wow! That doesn't happen very often!

This set is called On a Pedestal and will be in the new catalog in July. I got it FREE by going to the SU Regionals seminar in Minneapolis and then doing a qualifying workshop within 2 weeks. What a great way to get a stamp set! It makes me love being a demonstrator even more than I already did!

I didn't think I'd get my Challenge in this week, but I decided to stay up and get it done. Guess what? This card took 15 minutes from start to finish! I love it when that happens! This is the card I made for Jaron's Color Challenge. You can find his blog here. I had to do a mini-cheat because I don't have any Soft Sky. I used Bashful Blue instead and I think if I didn't say anything everyone would just think it was Soft Sky. :) If you have some Old Olive, Taken with Teal AND Soft Sky, make the same card and let me know how it turns out! This layout for a card is so quick and easy. And since I should really be packing my stuff for a workshop tonight I needed quick and easy!

Bloggers Challenge-Alter it! April 24, 2009

My first attempt at this week's Bloggers Challenge was this clothespin. I am not 100% happy with the way this turned out. I wanted to see if I could come up with something I like even better, so I tried again!

My second try at this week's Bloggers Challenge is this butterfly can. I am happier with this than then clothespin, but something still wasn't quite right.

Here is what I finally did for the Bloggers Challenge-Alter it! I am going to a bridal shower next weekend and I wanted to do something special for her gift. It's been sitting on my kitchen counter for a week, so I was glad we had this challenge so I actually got it done!

I used some of the things from the Pretties Kit on the top. I like the way the hat pin looks! I can rarely think of an idea to use these hat pins for, but I was happy with how it turned out here.

I added some of the flowers to the side. I used the Big Shot to cut out/emboss the flowers and then put a half pearl from the Pretties Kit in the middle. Hopefully I will have time to fill the bowls with something yummy! We're each going to give our favorite recipe. I want to make some of my favorite cookies and stick them in the bowls before next weekend.

Marker Club cards

These are the cards we made for my Marker Club. We've been learning all kinds of great ways to use our markers, besides the obvious-color in an image! Does this first card look familiar? It's from a Bloggers Challenge not too long ago! We made the pearl from the Pretties Kit with a Sage Shadow marker and clear emboss powder. It's not hard to do, but a little awkward making the pearl stay put while you heat the embossing powder! We used the Color Spritzer Tool on the Sage Shadow card stock on the top of the card, also.

The ribbon on this card is the satin ribbon from the Occasions Mini. We colored it with an Always Artichoke marker. It dried really fast! To make the stripes in the flower, we inked up the flower with Regal Rose (just to make sure the entire background was covered). Then we took a Regal Rose marker and dipped the tip in Rose Red ink from a reinker. Then when you use the side of the marker it makes the stripes! We ran the side of the marker across the flower stamp and stamped it on the card stock. Just make sure you scribble your marker on scrap paper after you use the reinker.

For this first card, we used the Color Spritzer Tool. First we spritzed Chocolate Chip and More Mustard on the rectangular piece of Whisper White. Then we inked up the bird with More Mustard and used the Color Spritzer Tool to add Chocolate Chip to the bird stamp. And then we stamped it on the card stock.

April Workshop cards

The first card is a split negative card. I stamped with Craft Green Galore ink on the black card stock and let it dry. The other half of the flower is stamped in Basic Black. After I stamped the images, I cut them in half and used the other half to make another card! I used pieces of card stock that were the same size as the wood block, making it easier to line them up when I was putting them on the card.

I used the Big Shot and Simple Flower embosslit
to make the flowers on the second card. I love how easy it is to cut and emboss at the same time! I used a Sponge Dauber and some Taken with Teal ink to make the Apricot Appeal flowers pop a little.

This make-n-take was made with Blush Blossom, Taken with Teal, and Close to Cocoa card stock. I used the double rectangle punch to make an even line of rectangles along the bottom. Punch the first one, then move the punch over so you can see one of the holes. Punch again and repeat until the end of the paper. Then weave the ribbon through!

This make-n-take card was inspired by a card my upline sent me. Hers had a picture of a snowman standing near a tree, and I wanted to make mine make me think of warmer weather! I stamped the flower/circle image in Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point ink. Then I punched them out with the Scallop Circle and 1/2" circle punches. I used the crop-a-dile to set the eyelet and make small embossed circles on the corner of the small square. The Big Shot made this card quick and easy, too! I love that Top Note die!

Blogger's Challenge April 17, 2009

The Blogger's Challenge this week was a Color Challenge. When I saw the Always Artichoke, Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, and Sahara Sand together, I thought of the Baroque Motifs set right away! To make the pearl a sage color, I colored it with a Sage Shadow marker, dipped it in clear embossing powder, and heated it. Then I repeated that step to make the sage color a little darker. I roughed up the edges of the Sage Shadow card stock and used Stampin' Dimensionals to make some contrast between the 2 Sage Shadow card stock pieces.
